How am I already 32 weeks pregnant? The last time I wrote this update I was around 23 weeks so I can’t explain where the time has gone, really. Only that with each new day, I’m getting more and more excited to meet my son.
How far along? Only 54 days left to go according to my app! But, I have a feeling it will be sooner than that. My darling boy is approx. 4lbs and the size of a head of lettuce. He now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). He’s plumping up nicely and getting ready for survival outside the womb.
Total weight gain/loss: I’ve gained an impressive 29 lbs so far and all of it is in my belly and butt. Most days I feel no discomfort at all, but there are those days when my joints and ligaments are stretched to the limit and I definitely feel pregnant. I’ve said this before, but the human body is awe inspiring and growing a human is the single most amazing thing I’ve ever experienced! I would do it again in a heartbeat. I’m still not following any specific exercise regimen, maybe today I’ll finally tear the plastic off the prenatal yoga DVD I bought months ago. Ha!
Symptoms: Most people warned me that the third trimester would be the hardest, but so far it’s been pretty manageable. I have more energy now than all of the months prior. I have none of the yucky symptoms that I had during my 2nd trimester. All in all, I feel very blessed to have had a wonderful pregnancy so far.
Food cravings: No cravings at all except for the occasional sugar buzz. I made my partner go out and buy cupcakes on Saturday and boy were they good! I’ve been eating like I normally do for weeks now. It’s kind of strange because I thought I would be hungry all the time.
Best moments: Feeling my son move… I could just sit and watch my belly contort all day long. Baby Lelan loves music, so we’ve been playing him some songs, chants etc. via belly buds. It’s pretty cool seeing him go crazy when the drum beat picks up… Also, starting today, I’ll be working from home 3 days a week. My boss is seriously one cool dude!
Looking forward to: My baby shower! My in-laws are throwing me a shower in a couple of weeks and I can’t wait to see everyone!!!
Current wisdom: As soon as I found out I was pregnant I started researching ways to birth my baby naturally. Some would say it was coincidence that I ended up with an OB who not only shares my philosophy on natural child birth, but is also the only physician in all of Long Island with privileges at a birthing center. Alas, I don’t believe in coincidences! I think the universe has a plan for each of us and all we need is to get out of the way and watch it unfold.
I’m beyond excited for what’s ahead, but I’m in no rush, whatsoever. I’m going to savor every last bit of this moment in my personal journey where I’m absolutely at peace with myself.
